You already do everything you can to make sure that your students buy the textbook they will need to succeed in your course. The required textbook news item is just one more thing. It features an image of the book's cover, the ISBN number, and links to a few popular places to get it from.
Desire 2 Connect can automate the creation of your required software widget based on a simple selection from a number of popular applications listed below. The book title is the best place to start in the creation of the required textbook news item. Use the following textbox to indicate the title of the textbook you wish your students to buy. We will address the specific edition in the next step. The example news item will update based on your input.

International standard book number, or ISBN, is a 13 (formerly 10) digit code that identifies a specific printing of a book. Use the following textbox to indicate the ISBN number of the textbook you wish your students to buy. The example news item will update based on your input.
One of the primary functions of the required textbook news item is allowing students to click a link that will take them directly to a site where they can purchase a copy of the book.
The above link should display a list of all the books that are identified by the ISBN you indicated in the previous step.
Note: Since every ISBN is unique there should only be one book. If there are no books, check your ISBN to ensure that it was input correctly. If there is an error in your ISBN click here.
Click on the your textbook to go to the product page.
Copy the link to your textbook by right clicking on the address bar and select Copy.
Paste the link to your textbook by right clicking in the Link to Textbook textbox and selecting paste.
Including a image of the cover of your book is one more way that you can help your students locate the book you wish them to purchase. Luckily, Amazon has one of the largest respositories of book cover images in the world. With this in ming it only takes a little effort and some creator magic we can grab a copy of the cover of your book.
Click on the tab for your textbook. If you have closed this tab you can click on the Available at Amazon link in the above news item.
Once you are on the product page for your book you will need to copy the address of the cover image.
Chrome: Right click on the cover image and select Copy Image Address.
Edge: Right click on the cover image and select Copy Image Link.
Safari: Right click or Control+Left Click the cover image and select Copy Image Address.
Firefox: Right click on the cover image and select Copy Image Location.
Paste the image address into the following Book Image Address textbox.
Now that we have located your required textbook and input all the information for our news item we need to switch gears and identify the course to which this news item will be attached. The best way to do this is using the course identification number. Follow the steps below to locate your course identification number is enter it in the textbox below.
While we have access to your course files we are going to upload the book cover for your news item.
Click the following logo to download it to your computer.

Click on your browser tab for D2L which should still be displaying your course files.
Click on Upload just above your list of course files.
Chrome/Edge: Both image files should be displayed in the download bar at the bottom of your window. Drag and drop each image into the upload box.
Safari: Locate and click the recent downloads folder () in the dock. Drag and drop amazon.png and [book isbn].png into the upload box.
Firefox: Locate and click the download button () next to the address bar in the top right. Drag and drop the amazon.png and [book isbn].png into the upload box.
Upload: Click the upload button and locate the amazon.png and [book isbn].png images.
